Intro to Fabrication - Week 03

Big object and small object:


I made two toy ukuleles. one out of plywood and one out of cardboard. Originally I planned to do so on the laser cutter and had the file ready on illustrator, but couldn't for logistic reasons and ended up measuring and cutting both manually. For the wood I used the bandsaw and wood glue. I measured the shape and then cut it in the bandsaw, copying with a pencil the main face of the ukulele which includes the "neck".




I got to cut this tiny uke on the bandsaw when usully it seems like a laser cutter machine but if feel like it made me improve handling delicate cuts with the bandsaw.



Then I glued it and realized I got some of the measuring wrong.

I tried fixing it adding some tiny bits.


The cardboard was much easier. I used a utility knife and hot glue and here didn't have problems with the measurements.

Size wise I doubled every length of the ruler but it looks 4 times bigger.
